Chelsea boss Tuchel admits captain Azpilicueta ‘not happy’ after being denied Barcelona transfer among Kounde uncertainty

    THOMAS TUCHEL was coy over Jules Kounde — but admits Cesar Azpilicueta is ‘not happy’ his proceed to Barcelona remains in limbo.

    SunSport revealed on Tuesday Chelsea had agreed a £55million deal for Sevilla defender Kounde.

    He later surprisingly switched up at his Spanish club’s pre-season camp — but continues to be likely to join.

    Yet Tuchel stated: “I’ll not give an update since you can not be sure within the transfer period.”

    Until Kounde, 23, seals moving to Chelsea, captain Azpilicueta must play a waiting game over his dream change to Barca.

    The 32-year-old includes a contract until 2023 and it is awaiting Tuchel to provide him the eco-friendly light.

    Azpilicueta hasn’t yet spoken on their own pre-season tour of the usa but tend to feature within the final game against Arsenal in Orlando in early hrs of tomorrow.

    Tuchel described: “I don’t know I wish to give Azpi what he wants. He understands it but he doesn’t enjoy it.

    “At some time it’s also about us and merely result in the comparison of methods much we fought against for Kalidou Koulibaly.

    “He is really a national player, he’s the same age as Azpi, a hugely important player.

    “But we have a Spanish worldwide player, captain for Chelsea and that i view it on a single level but Barcelona doesn’t view it with that level.

    “I don’t think a lot about other clubs when i consider us. The entire focus is upon us and just what we want and just what we’ve in Apzi.

    “I stated to him many occasions will be able to understand him on the personal level and career level. I’m able to understand his perspective.

    “But I’m not only within this role to provide him what he wants however i am also manager for Chelsea and need to do what is the best for Chelsea.”

    On whether this might affect Azpilicueta’s motivation, Tuchel responded: “Maybe now a little tough since the other club is on him, permanently on him and results in distraction.

    “But around the 1st&nbspof September, normally when things calm lower and situations are obvious, I’m very convinced he could experience his greatest level.”

    Requested whether he was annoyed at Barca’s approach of the player under contract at Chelsea, Tuchel chuckled: “Maybe a bit.”
