Chelsea 1-1 Red Bull Salzburg LIVE REACTION: Potter ‘disappointed’ but claims Blues will get better after first game in charge ends in Champions League draw despite Sterling goal – James hailed ‘best player’

Graham Potter’s debut as Chelsea manager ended in frustration as RB Salzburg came from behind to seal a 1-1 draw in the Champions League.

Raheem Sterling scored the first goal of the Potter era – but sloppy defending allowed Noah Okafor to equalise for the Austrian champions.

Potter replaced Thomas Tuchel who was sacked after losing to Dinamo Zagreb in the club’s opening game of the Champions League group stage last week.

But there was to be no immediate revival under the ex-Brighton boss, who already faces an uphill battle to qualify for the knockout stages.

It was a disappointing start for the Englishman
