    Charlton have been handed a trip to Manchester United in the Carabao Cup quarter-final.

    The League One side are the only non-Premier League outfit left in the cup competition.

    The Addicks shocked Brighton in the Round of 16, beating them at The Valley on penalties.

    Now, Dean Holden’s side will be travelling to Old Trafford in the New Year in the hope of causing a famous upset against Erik ten Hag’s side.

    It will be the first time the two side’s have met since 2007, the year Charlton got relegated from the Premier League.

    Park Ji-Sung and Darren Fletcher got the goals on that occasion in a 2-0 victory for Sir Alex Ferguson’s side at Old Trafford.

    The Addicks struggled against United during their time in the Premier League, playing them 16 times and not winning any. They lost 14 of those, drawing the other two.

    Charlton are currently 18th in League One, while the Red Devils are fifth in the Premier League.

    Elsewhere in the draw, Man City were handed a trip to Southampton after they knocked holders Liverpool out of the competition on Thursday night.

    Nottingham Forest host Wolves in a midlands derby, while Newcastle’s fans are beginning to dream of glory and they will have their sights set on a semi-final berth as they host Leicester in the last eight.

    The ties will be played on the week commencing January 9.
