Celtic Lifts Ban on Green Brigade Ultras Group Following Agreement on Safety Code of Conduct
Celtic Football Club has announced that it has lifted the ban on the Green Brigade, the club’s ultras group. The ban was imposed in October due to safety concerns arising from “unacceptable behaviors.” However, after discussions between the club and the fans group, an agreement has been reached regarding compliance with an updated Rail Seating Safety Code of Conduct.
Manager Brendan Rodgers has expressed his support for the return of the Green Brigade, stating that the fans’ support is a crucial factor in Celtic’s success. He emphasized the importance of unity among the manager, players, and supporters in creating a formidable atmosphere at Celtic Park.
The ban was not related to the display of Palestine flags, as initially speculated. Instead, it was a response to incidents involving the use of pyrotechnics during a game against Feyenoord, unauthorized entry into Celtic Park before a Champions League match against Lazio, and breaches of safety protocols at Fir Park.
In a statement, Celtic confirmed that the club had implemented an updated Rail Seating Safety Code of Conduct, which has been accepted by the Green Brigade. The club believes that this will ensure that rules and regulations are respected and adhered to, allowing for a safe and enjoyable matchday experience.
The Green Brigade, consisting of 267 registered fans, occupies a designated safe standing section in area 111 of Celtic Park. Initially, access to away match tickets was withdrawn for the group, followed by the suspension of their season tickets.
With the ban now lifted, Celtic hopes to reignite the passionate atmosphere at their home games and create a challenging environment for visiting teams. The club looks forward to the continued support of the Green Brigade and a successful season ahead.
