Celtic stunned Glasgow City by becoming the first team to defeat the SWPL league leaders this season. Natalie Ross opened the scoring for the visitors, and Natasha Flint’s lob doubled their advantage before the break. Priscila Chinchilla pulled one back for City, but Caitlin Hayes restored Celtic’s two-goal cushion after Lee Gibson had saved a penalty from Chloe Craig. Flint then added her second of the match, before Hayley Lauder scored a late consolation for the hosts. Gibson denied Flint a hat-trick with another penalty save.
Elsewhere, Sam Kerr scored a hat-trick as Rangers thrashed Partick Thistle 5-0. Kirsty Howat and Kirsty MacLean also got on the scoresheet for the third-placed side. Aberdeen were 2-1 victors over Hamilton Academical, with Bayley Hutchison and Eva Thomson giving them the lead before Hannah Coakley halved the deficit. Spartans and Motherwell played out a 2-2 draw at Ainslie Park, with Kayla Jardine, Caley Gibb, Becky Galbraith and Carla Boyce all finding the net. Rachel Todd scored a quickfire treble as Dundee United ran out 6-0 winners over Glasgow Women, with Georgie Robb, Jade McLaren (2) and Cassie Cowper also scoring. Hibernian and Hearts will play their game in hand on Saturday evening.
