Fabio Carvalho’s latest Instagram post has fueled speculation about his future at Liverpool. The 20-year-old responded to a comment about modeling by saying that it’s “all I do now,” which has led to rumors that he may be frustrated with his lack of playing time. Carvalho signed with the Reds from Fulham last summer for £5 million, but his minutes have been limited in the second half of the season. He played 18 games in all competitions for Liverpool in 2022, but only managed four in the new year and spent 15 games on the bench.
Carvalho’s Anfield career began with a stoppage-time winner against Newcastle in August, but his lack of minutes since has led to doubts over his future. Manchester United’s Anthony Elanga even commented on Carvalho’s post, saying “new home…” to which the Portugal Under-21 international replied “soon.”
Despite the transfer speculation, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp remains impressed with Carvalho and did not rule out a loan next season. He said that while this was not Carvalho’s best year in his career, it might have been his most important. Klopp added that no player has impressed him more than Carvalho and that his work ethic will give him a fantastic career because he trained with getting nothing.
