Caitlin Clark, the rookie sensation for the Indiana Fever, made history once again in the WNBA. In a game against the Dallas Wings, Clark recorded 19 assists, breaking the record for the most assists in a single game. The previous record of 18 assists was held by Courtney Vandersloot of the Chicago Sky.
Clark’s first assist of the game came early in the first quarter when she fed Aliyah Boston for a layup. Her record-breaking 19th assist occurred in the fourth quarter, setting up a 3-pointer by Kelsey Mitchell. Along with her assists, Clark also scored 24 points and grabbed six rebounds.

Despite Clark’s outstanding performance, the Fever lost to the Wings with a final score of 101-93. However, this didn’t stop Clark from making history. She is not only the fastest player to reach 400 points and 200 assists in WNBA history but also holds the franchise record for the most assists in a season with 202.
In addition to breaking Vandersloot’s single-game assist record, Clark became the first player in WNBA history to achieve at least 20 points, 15 assists, and five rebounds in a single game. Her ability to see the court and set up her teammates has impressed her coach, Christie Sides, who believes they will continue to improve as they play with Clark.
Clark’s remarkable performance has earned her a spot in the WNBA All-Star Game, where she received the most fan votes. As a rookie, she is currently leading first-year players in scoring and assists while ranking third in 3-pointers made.
Although Clark’s record-breaking night was impressive, she expressed frustration over the team’s loss. She believes they have missed out on winnable games and need to take advantage of their opportunities moving forward.
