Conor Gallagher: Borussia Dortmund Enquire About Chelsea Midfielder
Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher is attracting interest from Borussia Dortmund, who have officially enquired about the 23-year-old. The German giants are looking to recruit a new midfielder after losing Jude Bellingham to Real Madrid and see Gallagher as a potential target.
Gallagher’s Future at Chelsea
Gallagher is one of several Chelsea players linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge this summer as the club look to reduce the size of their squad. The Daily Mail report that Bundesliga side Dortmund have now enquired about Gallagher’s availability, despite rumours that Mauricio Pochettino wants to keep him.
Gallagher is under contract until 2025 and wants to stay and fight for his place at Chelsea, but the club’s hierarchy may still decide to sell him – with the club thought to be under Financial Fair Play pressure.
Interest from Other Clubs
Gallagher has attracted interest from many clubs including Newcastle United, Tottenham and Brighton. Liverpool, Crystal Palace, Everton and West Ham were all previously linked to the England international. He massively impressed on loan at Crystal Palace in the 2021-22 campaign and was named the club’s Player of the Year.
Dortmund’s Interest in Gallagher
Dortmund, meanwhile, missed out on the Bundesliga title last term on the final day of the season to Bayern Munich. The club are now looking to bolster their midfield options and see Gallagher as a potential target. It remains to be seen whether Chelsea will be willing to let him go or if Gallagher will stay and fight for his place at Stamford Bridge.
