Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has praised Kobbie Mainoo for his outstanding performance during his Premier League full debut. Mainoo, who came through Manchester United’s academy, showcased his talent during their 3-0 victory against Everton on Sunday at Goodison Park.
Mainoo’s Impressive Journey
The teenager had impressed during United’s pre-season tour but unfortunately suffered an ankle injury, which kept him sidelined for the past three months. Erik ten Hag, the manager, was devastated by the injury as he had plans to integrate Mainoo into the first XI this season. However, Mainoo made up for lost time with a mature and all-action display against Everton.
Fernandes’ Praise for Mainoo
While Alejandro Garnacho’s astonishing overhead kick made the headlines, Fernandes reserved his praise for Mainoo. Fernandes described Mainoo’s performance as “great” and named him the man of the match. He commended Mainoo’s comfort with the ball and his ability to make smart decisions, highlighting his exceptional qualities for his age. Fernandes also mentioned that Mainoo has a unique ability to see things before others.
Champions League Must-Win Game
Manchester United is set to face Galatasaray in a crucial Champions League match on Wednesday. Currently at the bottom of their group, United needs a victory as both Copenhagen and Galatasaray are one point ahead.
