Bruno Fernandes says he can’t wait to ‘play alongside’ and ‘learn from’ new Manchester United signing Christian Erisken.
The 30-year-old has signed for Erik ten Hag’s side on a three-year deal, after his contract at Brentford expired at the end of last season.
Eriksen is one of just two new signings Man United have signed this summer, with Feyenoord full-back Tyrell Malacia the only other addition so far.
And, despite being a positional rival, Fernandes says he’s ‘looking forward’ to the Dane arriving in Manchester ahead of the new season.
“I always learn from players who play similar positions as me, and I think he has been an amazing player in the past,” Fernandes said.
“And even last season at Brentford, he was amazing and I think he’s such a good quality player for us.
“I’m looking forward to playing alongside him because I think the best players make you play better, make you improve.
“So I’m looking forward to learning from him and to help him any way I can.”
Despite Fernandes’ apparent excitement at Eriksen’s arrival, ex-Premier League striker Tony Cascarino believes the addition of the midfielder will see the Portuguese get less game time next season.
“I feel Eriksen’s more likely to play than Fernandes at the moment, I’m just not sure about his season last year,” he told talkSPORT.
“He’s got a lot of ability as a footballer but he’s got to fit into the way that Ten Hag wants to play.”
