According to talkSPORT, Brighton is on the verge of securing a double signing of James Milner and Mahmoud Dahoud. The Seagulls are preparing to play in Europe for the first time in their history after qualifying for the Europa League, and they seem to have found two experienced players who have played on the continent.
Milner, who was recently released by Liverpool, has agreed to join Brighton as a free agent. The 37-year-old Champions League winner will bring plenty of experience to the Seagulls’ European journey and will be a versatile option despite his age. He has featured in 37 games in all competitions this season and can also aid in replacing Roberto De Zerbi’s midfield stars Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister, who are both expected to move on to Premier League rivals.
Brighton is also set to announce the signing of Borussia Dortmund’s Mahmoud Dahoud. The German midfielder will also help fill the gap left by Caicedo and Mac Allister should they seal moves elsewhere. De Zerbi hinted that signing Dahoud was in the pipeline in May, and the star will cost the Seagulls nothing as his contract at Dortmund comes to an end this summer. Although he only played 10 games this season due to a shoulder injury, he started a majority of the 30 matches he featured in for the Bundesliga side last term as they secured a second-place finish in the league.
The Seagulls have already broken their club record fee by bringing in Watford star Joao Pedro as they prepare for a historic season at the Amex. With Milner and Dahoud on board, Brighton fans can look forward to an exciting European campaign.
