# Brighton and Liverpool Share Points in Thrilling Draw
Brighton manager Roberto de Zerbi was proud of his “young” team’s performance after they earned a hard-fought 2-2 draw against Liverpool at the Amex Stadium.
The Seagulls put in an impressive display against the reigning Premier League champions, with a goal from Danny Welbeck and an own goal from Andy Robertson giving them a two-goal lead. However, Liverpool fought back and equalised through goals from Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah.
## Brighton’s Impressive Performance
Brighton put in a spirited performance against the Reds, with de Zerbi praising his side for their efforts. He said: “I am very proud of my team, especially the young players. They showed great character and determination to get a result against a very strong Liverpool side.”
The Seagulls were particularly impressive in the first half, with Welbeck giving them the lead in the 14th minute. The former Manchester United and Arsenal striker latched onto a pass from Pascal Gross before firing past Alisson in the Liverpool goal.
Brighton then doubled their lead shortly before half-time when Gross’ cross was diverted into his own net by Robertson. The Seagulls looked to be heading for a shock victory, but Liverpool fought back in the second half.
## Liverpool’s Comeback
Jota pulled a goal back for the Reds in the 65th minute, heading home from close range after being found by Sadio Mane. The Portuguese forward then set up Salah for the equaliser, with the Egyptian firing past Mat Ryan in the Brighton goal.
Liverpool had chances to win the game late on, but Brighton held firm to earn a point. The result leaves them in 14th place in the Premier League table, while Liverpool remain top of the table with a seven-point lead over second-placed Tottenham Hotspur.
