Brendan Rodgers fears Leicester City will be facing an Arsenal side that have ‘gone to a new level’ following their summer recruitment drive.

The Gunners responded to the blow of missing out on Champions League qualification last season by investing heavily in their squad, delivering Mikel Arteta the tools required to mount a more sustained challenge.

Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko both arrived with bag of Premier League experience and impressed on their debuts in a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace last Friday.

That London derby also showcased the full potential of William Saliba who finally made his eagerly anticipated first competitive appearance for Arsenal, three years after he initially joined from Saint Etienne.

Arsenal did the double of the Foxes last season and are set to face a team blew a two-goal lead last Sunday against Brentford at the King Power Stadium.

Rodgers could be forgiven for aiming envious glances at Arteta given his own spending power has been totally restricted during the close season and he has noted the improvement the north London club have made under their ambitious manager.

‘Arsenal have gone to a new level with the three players who have come into the team,’ he said.

;Saliba is a talented player, he’s gone away and got really good experience and you see him, he’s quick, he can dominate. He’s a fantastic addition and gives them presence at the back.

‘The two guys coming in from Man City have made a difference. They’re coming from a world-class environment. Jesus is a world-class striker.

‘You see his hunger and desire. It will elevate other players. Zinchenko can play in a couple of positions to the very highest level.

‘They have given the squad the confidence and has given Mikel the tools to play how he really wants to play.’

Rodgers, meanwhile, insists there have been no new bids for Wesley Fofana.

The defender, a former teammate of Saliba’s at St Etienne, has been subject of interest from Chelsea, with two offers rejected, but nothing fresh has arrived.

Asked if any new bids had been submitted, he replied: ‘Not that I am aware of. There were two, but again, nowhere near what the club would even think about.

‘The point to reiterate is that we are not looking to sell Wesley. That is they key point. He is not a player we are actively looking to sell but naturally if there is interest from other clubs that is looked at by the club.

‘He is a top young defender, there are not too many about at his age. He is someone we would love to keep here but we will have to see what develops.’
