Vanderson admits it’s ‘great to hear’ Manchester United and Barcelona are interested in him
Monaco star Vanderson has admitted it’s ‘great to hear’ that clubs like Manchester United and Barcelona are interested in him. The Brazil star joined Monaco from Gremio in 2021, and he was purchased with a view to playing right-back.
But the defender has been utilised in a right-flank position during his time on the south coast of France. His performances for Monaco last season earned him a call-up to the Brazil squad and attracted attention from Europe’s elite.
Barcelona have watched Vanderson a number of times, while Manchester United had scouts at Monaco’s games throughout last season. Erik ten Hag had been keen to sign a new right-back but the need to strengthen other areas has seen him stick with Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
But Vanderson is aware of United’s interested, and says it’s ‘fantastic’ to be linked with such a big club. ‘It’s great to hear Barcelona and United ‘love’ you,’ Vanderson explained. ‘It’s fantastic to know your name is being mentioned by the big clubs. But, now I’m focused only on Monaco.’
Vanderson is valued at around £40m and is reportedly wanted by both Manchester United and Barcelona. The Brazilian defender has been in impressive form for Monaco this season, and his performances have earned him a call-up to the Brazil national team.
The 25-year-old has been utilised in a right-flank position during his time at Monaco, but it is thought that he could be used as a right-back if he were to move to one of Europe’s elite clubs.
