Monaco star Vanderson has admitted it’s ‘great to hear’ that clubs like Manchester United and Barcelona are interested in him. The Brazil star joined Monaco from Gremio in 2021, and he was purchased with a view to playing right-back.

But the defender has been utilised in a right-flank position during his time on the south coast of France. His performances for Monaco last season earned him a call-up to the Brazil squad and attracted attention from Europe’s elite.

Barcelona have watched Vanderson a number of times, while Manchester United had scouts at Monaco’s games throughout last season. Erik ten Hag had been keen to sign a new right-back but the need to strengthen other areas has seen him stick with Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

But Vanderson is aware of United’s interested, and says it’s ‘fantastic’ to be linked with such a big club. ‘It’s great to hear Barcelona and United ‘love’ you,’ Vanderson explained. ‘It’s fantastic to know your name is being mentioned by the big clubs. But, now I’m focused only on Monaco.’

Vanderson is valued at around £40m and is reportedly wanted by both Manchester United and Barcelona. The Brazilian defender has been in impressive form for Monaco this season, and his performances have earned him a call-up to the Brazil national team.

The 25-year-old has been utilised in a right-flank position during his time at Monaco, but it is thought that he could be used as a right-back if he were to move to one of Europe’s elite clubs.

Manchester United have been linked with Vanderson for some time now, and it is believed that they have had scouts watching him throughout the season. Barcelona have also been keeping tabs on the defender, and it is thought that they are keen to bring him to the Camp Nou.

Vanderson admits that it is ‘great to hear’ that clubs like Manchester United and Barcelona are interested in him, but he insists that he is focused on his current club Monaco.

The Brazilian defender has been an integral part of Monaco’s side this season, and his performances have helped them to remain in contention for a Champions League spot.

Vanderson’s future remains uncertain, but it is clear that he is attracting interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs. It remains to be seen whether Manchester United or Barcelona will make a move for the defender, but one thing is for sure – he will be an asset to whichever team he ends up joining.
