Bournemouth “Too High Up” for O’Neil Hire

Bournemouth

Bournemouth boss Gary O’Neil admits he was initially hesitant to take on his first managerial role with the club, believing they were “too high up the pyramid” for him. In an interview with Kelly Somers, O’Neil talks about his transition from coach to manager following Scott Parker’s departure, and how he helped the Cherries survive in the Premier League.

O’Neil explains that his initial reservations about taking on the role were quickly put to rest when he realised the potential of the club and the quality of the squad. He says he was determined to help Bournemouth stay in the Premier League and was pleased to see his efforts rewarded.

The full interview with Gary O’Neil can be seen on Football Focus at 12:00 BST on Saturday 27 May on BBC iPlayer, BBC One and the BBC Sport website & app. For all the latest Bournemouth news, visit our dedicated page.
