Borussia Dortmund have reportedly ended their interest in re-signing Jadon Sancho from Manchester United. The winger, who joined United for £73 million two years ago, was initially seen as one of the world’s best players who could contribute to United’s attack for years to come. However, Sancho has struggled to make an impact, scoring only 12 goals and providing six assists in 79 appearances. Despite flashes of brilliance under manager Erik ten Hag, Sancho currently finds himself out of favor, with Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Alejandro Garnacho ahead of him in the pecking order.
While United is open to keeping the 23-year-old and believes he can rediscover his best form, they would consider offers that meet their £45 million valuation. Tottenham had been linked with a surprise move for Sancho but now seems to have shifted their focus to Manor Solomon, who impressed on loan at Fulham last season. Additionally, Dortmund had reportedly offered to take Sancho back on loan, but United swiftly rejected the approach.
Dortmund’s decision not to pursue Sancho further is based on their faith in 17-year-old wonderkid Julien Duranville, whom they believe will become the next big thing. The club is also said to be targeting Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Leeds. McKennie has long been rumored to leave Turin and has previously been linked with Tottenham and Arsenal.
The news of Dortmund’s disinterest in Sancho may come as a blow to Ten Hag, who needs to raise funds to acquire his top targets, including goalkeeper Andre Onana and striker Rasmus Hojlund. Due to Financial Fair Play rules, Ten Hag reportedly has a budget of around £120 million this summer, with half of that already spent on the arrival of Mason Mount from Chelsea.
In other news, Tottenham has reportedly offered Harry Kane a “massive new contract” amid interest from Bayern Munich. AC Milan has also made a second bid for Chelsea star Christian Pulisic, who is reportedly seeking a move away from the club.
