There were boos from the away end as Leeds had a nightmare first half at Cardiff in the FA Cup third round.
It may be two decades on from the infamous Cardiff giant killing against Leeds back in 2002, but the 2023 edition is heading in a similar direction.
Jesse Marsch’s side went 2-0 down in the first half and risked becoming another shock third round result.
Jaden Philogene put the Championship side 1-0 ahead after 24 minutes and then former Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo doubled that advantage seven minutes later.
The Premier League side had plenty of possession, but looked dreadful at the back in a much-changed line-up.
Most notably it was second string goalkeeper Joel Robles between the posts instead of Ilan Meslier, while Diego Llorente and Pascal Struijk looked shaky.
talkSPORT commentator Jim Proudfoot said: “Two in seven minutes and Cardiff have given Leeds a mountain to climb. Another shock on the cards.
“It’s taken 20 years for these sides to be drawn in the FA Cup again, but lightning might be striking twice.
“This is a massive test of Leeds United’s character. They have made changes, but it is not a completely scratched side from Jesse Marsch.”
talkSPORT co-commentator Stuart Pearce added: “Every time they have gone forward and put the ball behind the Leeds back line, they’ve looked very flakey in what they’ve done.
“I don’t think they want to do the hard yards and the dirty work. They look very shaky with the balls in behind.”
There were a smattering of boos from the away end with the Premier League team having it all to do after the break.
