The summer transfer window is approaching and there’s certainly a bargain to be had.

Clubs around the world will be looking to strengthen their squads ahead of the new season and with transfer funds likely to be at a premium, it means that clubs could be shopping in the discount aisle.

With certain stars rejecting contracts at their existing clubs, it means that an elite group will be available for nothing this summer.

Free transfers are often used further down the football pyramid, but as far as the top clubs in the world go, even they’ll be interested in some of these stars.

Sam Johnstone

Johnstone looks set to earn a big move this summer after his hugely impressive form for West Brom.

Defence

Dan-Axel Zagadou (CB)

The Dortmund defender is regarded as one of the most talented in Germany, but unfortunately injuries have stopped him from reaching his true potential.

A summer move could be on the cards with a fresh start exactly what the 22-year-old needs.

Burnley star James Tarkowski is also out of contract and could be of interest to a number of top Premier League sides.

With the likes of Newcastle and West Ham linked, the powerful centre-back looks set for a big move.

Alessio Romagnoli (CB)

The AC Milan defender has certainly earned a big move if that’s what he’s looking for this summer.

Christian Eriksen (CM)

Christian Eriksen will also be available after a hugely successful six months with Brentford.

Manchester United are set for a big rebuild this summer and as part of that they look set to offload several players at the end of their contracts.

Paul Pogba is arguably the highest profile and looks set to leave Old Trafford, and has been linked with a move to Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain.

Nemanja Matic (CM)

A second Man United player looking for a move this summer is Nemanja Matic.

The experienced midfielder has already confirmed that he’ll be leaving Old Trafford, and could earn a big move to another sizable European club.

Lingard will also surely be an attractive option for clubs in England and abroad.

The 29-year-old has found life tough in Manchester of late and will be looking forward to the chance to reignite his career.

Ousmane Dembele

Barcelona star Dembele looked certain to leave the Nou Camp in January.

Despite working his way back into contention under head coach Xavi, the winger appears likely to move on due to his wage demands.

Paulo Dybala

Dybala is another forward who looks set to leave his current club, with the Juventus star heavily linked with a move to Inter Milan.

The 28-year-old is going to be one of the most in-demand in Europe this summer and it’ll be very interesting to see where he ends up.

Kylian Mbappe

The biggest star available for nothing is undoubtedly Kylian Mbappe.

The 23-year-old has established himself as one of the world’s best since moving to Paris Saint-Germain, but with no new contract agreed, it seems that he’ll be moving on in a blockbuster deal.

Real Madrid are the top contenders to sign the France international and the next few weeks will no doubt be decisive in Mbappe’s future.
