French footballer Karim Benzema has signed a three-year contract with Saudi Arabian club Al Ittihad, reportedly worth almost £200m per season. The deal will see Benzema earn around £6 per second in Saudi Arabia, or over £350 per minute, more than £20,000 an hour and over £500,000 a day. Benzema cited wanting to live in a Muslim country as a reason for making the move, but the staggering contract he was offered must have played a part too. His contract is similar to that of former Real Madrid teammate Cristiano Ronaldo, who also moved to the Middle East.
