Ben Foster Vows to Stay at Wrexham After Promotion

Date:

Veteran goalkeeper Ben Foster has teased the possibility of staying at Wrexham for another year, after the club secured promotion to League Two with a 3-1 win over Boreham Wood. Hollywood owner Ryan Reynolds cheekily claimed that Foster had ‘verbally signed’ an extension after the keeper said ‘we’ll do it again next year’.

Foster, who won the Football League Trophy with Wrexham in 2005 while on loan, was more non-committal later in the day, saying: ‘I keep telling the lads, you don’t get many of these moments. You don’t. I think this is my third promotion in my whole 20-year career and it feels so good. At the age of 40 – the ripe old age of 40 – that was about as good as it gets, genuinely that means so much to me. I can see how much it means to the fans, I can see how much it means to the players. That has been incredible. What a day. We are up baby. We are going to be playing League Two football next year and that feels absolutely sweet. Will I stay on for another year? I don’t know yet. We’ll see, we’ll see. That felt so good though, that’s all I do know.’
