Hello everyone! My name is Steve Lyle, and I am the head of football at the BBC. As Euro 2024 is about to kick off, I wanted to give you a rundown of what we have to offer in terms of coverage.
Television and BBC iPlayer:
We have a comprehensive lineup of live coverage for all 27 matches, which will be broadcasted on BBC One or BBC Two, BBC iPlayer, and the BBC Sport website and app. Our presenters, including Gary Lineker, Gabby Logan, Mark Chapman, and Alex Scott, will lead the coverage from our studio in the heart of Berlin. We have an impressive lineup of commentators, including Guy Mowbray, Robyn Cowen, Vicki Sparks, and Jonathan Pearce. Former England players Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand, Joe Hart, Ellen White, and Frank Lampard will provide their expertise alongside regulars Micah Richards and Ashley Williams. We also have representatives from Scotland, such as David Moyes and Rachel Corsie. Additionally, Cesc Fabregas and Brentford boss Thomas Frank will join our team in the studio.
In addition to live TV coverage, we have expanded our offerings on BBC iPlayer. You can find build-up content, special features, and matches from the Euros archive. We also have additional analysis, mini highlights, reports from the England and Scotland camps, and a new highlights program called Euros Breakdown with Alex Scott. We have first choice of the quarter-finals and will show live games featuring top teams like Italy, France, Spain, Belgium, Portugal, and hosts Germany.
Radio and BBC Sounds:
BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Sounds will provide coverage of all 51 matches in Germany. Our presenters Mark Chapman, Kelly Cates, and Steve Crossman will be joined by commentators John Murray, Ian Dennis, Alistair Bruce-Ball, and Vicki Sparks. Expert analysis will come from the likes of Chris Sutton, Matthew Upson, Pat Nevin, Izzy Christiansen, Conor Coady, and Dion Dublin. We also have former players like Theo Walcott, Clinton Morrison, Paul Robinson, Jose Fonte, Jen Beattie, Robert Huth, Stephen Warnock, and Mario Melchiot joining the team. The Football Daily podcast has relocated to Germany and will feature analysis and interviews from inside the England and Scotland camps.
BBC Sport website and app:
Our website and app will provide you with the best live output, including every goal, analysis, reports, and breaking news. You can follow the drama of all 51 games and get involved in fan debate. For England and Scotland supporters, you can pick your preferred starting line-ups for each game and rate every player out of 10. We have an improved in-game live service with quicker goal flashes and updates. You can watch all the goals and highlights from every game and even set up mobile alerts for all 24 teams. BBC Scotland coverage:
BBC Scotland’s sports teams will be at the heart of the live action for Scottish audiences during the Euros. Scotland’s group matches against Switzerland and Hungary will be live on BBC One Scotland, while all three group matches will be live on BBC Radio Scotland. Kenny MacIntyre will present BBC Radio Scotland’s Sportsound, with Liam McLeod and Alasdair Lamont providing commentary. There will also be a highlights program on the BBC Scotland channel, presented by Jonathan Sutherland. BBC Scotland Sport will provide multi-platform content across BBC ALBA, Radio Nan Gaidheal, and BBC Sounds.
