Manchester City have qualified for the semi-finals of the Champions League after a 1-1 draw with Bayern Munich in the second leg of their quarter-final clash. Erling Haaland opened the scoring for Manchester City in the 56th minute, with Kevin De Bruyne advancing across the halfway line and feeding the ball to the Norwegian who, aided by an untimely slip from Dayot Upamecano, produced a thumping finish high past Yann Sommer in the Bayern goal. The strike was Haaland’s 12th goal in this season’s Champions League, and his 48th in all competitions this season. Bayern did manage to draw level on the night, with the home side awarded a penalty after Manuel Akanji was harshly adjudged to have handled the ball inside the box. Joshua Kimmich stepped up from 12 yards, finishing straight down the middle with seven minutes remaining on the clock. Manchester City will now face Real Madrid in the semi-finals next month.
