Robert Lewandowski will not be leaving Bayern Munich this summer, confirms the club’s sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic.

The 33-year-old has been linked with a move away from the Bavarian giants, with Barcelona a possible destination for the prolific striker.

That still may come to pass, but it will not be this summer, with the Pole under contract at Bayern until 2023 and Salihamidzic not interested in selling him before then.

The former Bayern player was asked if the club would consider big offers for Lewandowski this summer and he told Sky Germany: ‘No.’

Confirming that he will not be leaving at the end of his summer, Salihamidzic added: ‘Yes, he has a contract until 2023.’

Bayern CEO Oliver Kahn has made a similar statement, describing reports that Lewandowski is set for a move to the Camp Nou as ‘nonsense’ and that Bayern have no intention of letting their main man go.

Kahn told Amazon Prime: ‘Apparently there is a competition out there: who will tell the biggest nonsense story about Robert Lewandowski.

‘We’re not crazy and we are not discussing the transfer of a player who scores between 30 and 40 goals for us every season!’

Salihamidzic even said that he hopes Lewandowski will stay beyond 2023 and that the club will look to keep hold of him, if it makes financial sense.

‘Of course (we want to keep him),’ he said. ‘Lewandowski is highly appreciated. But he’s our top earner at the club. We also have to look at our financial possibilities and how much money we have.

‘We have all the time in the world. We have the best striker in the world and we’re proud of that.’

The veteran forward is having another absolutely incredible season with Bayern, netting 33 goals in just 31 Bundesliga appearances and 13 more in just 10 appearances in the Champions League.
