Xavi’s Position as Barcelona Head Coach Secure Despite Super Cup Defeat to Real Madrid
Barcelona head coach Xavi’s position is not in jeopardy following the team’s heavy loss to arch-rivals Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup. Vinicius Jr scored a first-half hat-trick as Real Madrid secured a comfortable 4-1 victory in Saudi Arabia on Sunday night.
Last season, Barcelona won the same trophy, which propelled them to La Liga success. However, this season they currently sit eight points behind league leaders Girona. The defeat to Real Madrid was hoped to be a turning point for Barcelona, but Carlo Ancelotti’s side dominated the match.
Despite the disappointing result, Xavi retains the full support of the Barcelona board and club president Joan Laporta. They believe that the former midfielder has the ability to turn things around and improve the situation at the Camp Nou.
After the defeat, Xavi expressed his disappointment and sadness, acknowledging that Barcelona had produced their worst performance. He apologized to the fans and accepted the criticism, vowing to work hard and compete again in the best possible way.
