Barcelona were unable to extend their lead at the top of La Liga as they were held to a 0-0 draw at home by Girona. Robert Lewandowski had the best chance of the game for the hosts, but his effort went over the bar in the fourth minute. Girona keeper Paulo Gazzaniga, on loan from Fulham, made a number of good saves to deny Barcelona, including one from Raphinha at his near post. Taty Castellanos also had a chance to score for the visitors, but his shot went wide.

Girona set up in a 4-1-4-1 formation, with Gazzaniga in goal, Martinez, Bueno, López and Hernández Cabrera in defence, Romeu in midfield and Tsygankov, Martín, García, Villa Suárez and Castellanos up front.
