Aston Villa’s Alex Moreno shares Pep Guardiola’s advice from Barcelona youth ahead of Man Utd match

Spanish left-back Alex Moreno played a crucial role in helping Real Betis win the Copa del Rey last season, ending the club’s 17-year wait for a major trophy. Moreno, who owns a green bracelet to commemorate the win, was convinced by Aston Villa boss Unai Emery to join the club in January for £14 million with the aim of competing for titles again. Moreno is impressed with Emery’s ambition and vision for the club and believes that they can achieve big things together. After a slow start under ex-boss Steven Gerrard, Villa are now sixth in the Premier League with five games left and are focused on securing a European spot. Moreno’s career has taught him that achieving dreams requires patience, having started his career in Barcelona’s youth set-up before forging a career in Spain’s lower divisions with Mallorca, Rayo Vallecano, and Elche before making his way to La Liga with Betis in 2019. Moreno is also enjoying his personal life, having recently proposed to his girlfriend at the Trevi Fountain in Rome, although he is missing his two puppies back home in Seville.
