Unai Emery, the manager of Aston Villa, is reportedly planning to reunite with a former Tottenham player during the summer transfer window. The 51-year-old Spaniard has done an impressive job since taking over from Steven Gerrard at Villa Park in October. The Villans’ unbeaten Premier League run has now extended to ten games, and they have moved above Tottenham into fifth place. Emery is now looking to bring European football back to Villa for the first time in 13 years and is already searching for reinforcements to strengthen his squad. One of the players he is interested in is Giovani Lo Celso, an Argentina international who played for him at Villarreal. According to the Daily Mail, Villa is “keeping a watchful eye on Giovani Lo Celso’s performances” as they consider making a move for him. Lo Celso is currently on loan at Villarreal from Tottenham, where he made 26 appearances under Emery on loan last season and helped the club reach the Champions League semi-final. Spurs still want to sell Lo Celso on a permanent basis, and he is under contract until 2025. Tottenham allegedly remains “happy to sell” him.
