It was a successful weekend for Liverpool loan players, with Leighton Clarkson and Luke Chambers both impressing in big games in the Scottish Premier League. Clarkson shone for Aberdeen as they beat Rangers 2-0 at Pittodrie, with the 21-year-old clearing Alfredo Morelos’ shot off the line early on before providing an assist for Bojan Miovski’s goal. Chambers was also impressive for Kilmarnock, playing in a back three as they secured a vital 2-0 win against St Mirren. The 18-year-old won six of seven ground duels and made three ‘key passes’.
Elsewhere, Conor Bradley won with Bolton, but it was a more difficult weekend for Jarell Quansah in League One. Quansah came on for 33 minutes for Bristol Rovers but couldn’t help them avoid a 2-0 defeat to Port Vale.
Unfortunately, Tyler Morton suffered a season-ending injury while playing for Blackburn against Preston. The midfielder fractured his foot in the first half but carried on until being brought off after 89 minutes. The game finished 1-1. Morton has played in every league match but two under the management of Jon Dahl Tomasson.
Anderson Arroyo played 22 minutes for Alaves in their 1-1 draw with Leganes, while the other Liverpool loan players were not used. Paul Glatzel, Sepp van den Berg, Fidel O’Rourke, Liam Millar, Harvey Elliott, Ben Woodburn and Marcelo Pitaluga, Vitezslav Jaros, Adam Lewis and Jack Bearne were all unavailable due to injury.
