“Arsenal’s Transfer Plans: Stalled Deals, Merino Interest, and Smith Rowe’s Future”

Date:

Arsenal’s summer transfer plans have hit a few roadblocks, with reports suggesting that deals for several targets have stalled. One player the Gunners are interested in is Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna. However, negotiations have hit a snag due to Bologna’s demands for a high sell-on clause. Similarly, a move for Spanish youngster Nico Williams has also stalled, as the player is reportedly more interested in joining AC Milan. Arsenal are also keeping tabs on Real Sociedad stars Mikel Merino, Martin Zubimendi, and Ander Barrenetxea, but it remains to be seen if a deal can be reached.

In terms of outgoing transfers, Arsenal have rejected bids from Crystal Palace and Fulham for Emile Smith Rowe. The 23-year-old midfielder could still leave if the right offer comes in, with Arsenal valuing him between £25 million and £30 million. Another player who could be on his way out is Reiss Nelson, with West Ham reportedly interested in signing him for a fee of £15 million to £20 million.

One player who has spoken out about his time at Arsenal is Nicolas Pepe. The Ivorian winger revealed that he was traumatised by his time at the club, feeling a loss of passion for the game and facing harsh criticism from fans and media. Pepe eventually left Arsenal last summer to join Nice, where he found joy in playing again.

On the pre-season front, Arsenal’s Euro 2024 finalists are unlikely to feature in the club’s US tour. Players such as Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka, and Aaron Ramsdale are expected to have three weeks off before returning to club training, meaning they will miss the tour. Instead, they will aim to be involved in the club’s Emirates Cup fixtures before the Premier League season kicks off.

In terms of other transfer news, Brentford are ready to slash their asking price for striker Ivan Toney to less than £50 million. Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United have all shown no interest in bidding for Toney, leaving Tottenham and West Ham as the most likely suitors. Additionally, Arsenal could face competition from Manchester United for Fenerbahce left-back Ferdi Kadioglu, who is valued at £29.5 million.

Overall, Arsenal’s transfer plans have faced some obstacles, with deals stalling and competition from other clubs. It remains to be seen how the Gunners will navigate these challenges and strengthen their squad for the upcoming season.
