According to reports, Arsenal have made an initial offer to sign Chelsea’s Kai Havertz. The Gunners are said to be genuinely interested in the forward, but the two clubs are far apart in their valuations of the player. While Arsenal’s pursuit of Havertz is still in its early stages, it has reportedly intensified in recent days after contact with Chelsea and the player. The Germany international has also been linked with Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.
Chelsea are reportedly open to selling some of their players to offset past spending and fund transfers for this summer. Havertz, who joined Chelsea in a £90m deal in 2020, had a difficult 2022/23 season, scoring only nine goals in 47 appearances in all competitions.
In addition to Havertz, Arsenal are also said to be favourites to sign West Ham and England star Declan Rice, with an opening bid expected soon. The Gunners narrowly missed out on the Premier League title last season, and it appears they mean business in the transfer market.
Mikel Arteta’s side will return from their summer break in the first week of July before heading to Germany for a training camp and then jetting off to the USA for their pre-season tour.
