Arsenal transfer news LIVE: Mudryk LATEST with club open to January move, Mac Allister plea, Martinelli ‘RENEWS’ deal

    Good morning Arsenal fans

Arsenal star Beth Mead has been crowned BBC Sports Personality of the Year for 2022, which makes her the first female footballer to win this prestigious award.

Mead was the vital component that led England women’s team to the Euro 2022 trophy by top-scoring with six goals and being named Player of the Tournament.

The centre-forward – whose mum has terminal cancer – said: “I’m incredibly honoured to win this award. I wouldn’t have done it without those girls, who backed me.

“Yes, I did my job and scored a few goals, but I wouldn’t have done it without them, my mum, dad and all of my family.

“This is for women’s sport and for it heading in the right direction. So, let’s keep pushing the girls and keep doing the right things.

“The girls are like a family away from home and when things at home haven’t been great, they supported me so well.”

Meanwhile, Arsenal could be in a fight with Tottenham and Atletico Madrid to sign Brighton’s 2022 World Cup star Alexis Mac Allister.

Mac Allister capped a fantastic tournament in Qatar by being one of Argentina’s star players in their dramatic final win against France.

The 23-year-old is set to return to a quiet life at the Amex Stadium while big clubs fight over his signature.

According to AS, the Gunners and Atletico are the main contenders for the midfielder, but it is likely his value has risen after his World Cup performances.

Sky Sports add that Tottenham have held an interest in the Argentine since before the tournament in Qatar.

And Arsenal will attempt to sign Leicester star Youri Tielemans on a free transfer when his contract runs out in June.

The Gunners are still understood to be interested in tempting Tielemans to the Emirates after failing to land him in the summer transfer window.

According to Football.London, however, the North Londoners will first wait until his current deal expires.

The midfielder will become a free agent when his contract runs out at the end of June unless he is sold for a cut-price fee during the upcoming January transfer window.

The Belgium international can also agree a pre-contract deal with a European club from next month, putting Arsenal’s plans to sign him at risk.

Finally, Fulham are close to signing Arsenal ace Cedric Soares ahead of the January transfer window.

Cedric has been told he can leave the Gunners after the New Year with manager Mikel Arteta open to offloading him.

The right-back is expected to join the Cottagers on a permanent deal
