Arsenal star Emile Smith Rowe enjoying World Cup break as he reveals injury timeline during Formula 1 trip on day off – ‘It’s going well’

Emile Smith Rowe says he’s expecting to return from injury and be back available for Arsenal after the World Cup finishes.

The Gunners star also revealed he’s ‘really happy’ to see his side topping the Premier League table this season – but admitted it was ‘annoying’ to be missing out.

Arsenal’s midfielder hasn’t played a game since the Gunners’ only loss of the season against Manchester United at the start of September after undergoing surgery on his groin.

As a result, the 22-year-old missed out on the chance to represent England at the World Cup this winter.

Now, though, he’s confirmed that he should be back in action after the tournament finishes.

“Hopefully [I’ll be back] by the first game after the World Cup,” he said during an interview with Sky Sports at the F1 Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi.

“I’m actually out here [in Abu Dhabi] doing rehab, today was my day off, I’m back training tomorrow.

“I’m back on the pitch, it’s going well.”

The Gunners hold a five point lead at the top of the Premier League table over second place, reigning champions Manchester City during the break for the World Cup.

And Smith Rowe confessed he couldn’t wait to get back involved with his team’s title charge after spending weeks watching it from the sidelines.

“I think it’s going really well and I’m really happy for the team and stuff. But sometimes it’s annoying when I can’t feel like I can be involved and can’t be on the pitch with my teammates.

“But yeah it’s amazing to see them doing so well and I can’t wait to get back.”
