Samir Nasri has reflected on the time Arsenal ‘s**t themselves’ as they were beaten by Manchester United in the Champions League semi-finals.

The Gunners were fierce rivals of the Red Devils in 2009 and they were vying with Sir Alex Ferguson’s side in the Premier League title race.

United had won the last two championships and boasted the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Carlos Tevez and Wayne Rooney in attack.

For the first time in Ferguson’s tenure, United came up against English opposition in the European Cup as they were paired with Arsenal in the semi-final stage.

United took a 1-0 lead to the Emirates in the second leg following John O’Shea’s goal at Old Trafford in the reverse fixture.

Hopes were therefore high in north London that the Gunners could reach their second final in three years.

But a brace from Ronaldo and an early goal from Park Ji-Sung saw United progress with ease.

And Nasri has revealed that the Gunners ‘s**t’ themselves up against one of the best teams in United’s history.

‘It was the first time I’d seen the Emirates with such a crazy atmosphere, you had flags everywhere and everything’ Nasri told ZakNani.

‘When you go into a match with shivers down your spine, you can feel you’re going to have a great game. And we s*** ourselves. We s*** ourselves, and we came up against a great Cristiano Ronaldo.’

United were aiming to become the first team to win back-to-back Champions League titles in the Rome final.

But they were beaten 2-0 by Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona thanks to goals from Samuel Eto’o and Lionel Messi.
