Arsenal Should Sign Victor Osimhen – Kevin Campbell

Kevin Campbell urges Arsenal to sign Victor Osimhen from Napoli

Arsenal legend Kevin Campbell has urged his former club to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen. The Gunners are reportedly looking to sign a new forward in the January transfer window and have been strongly linked to Brentford star Ivan Toney. However, Campbell thinks the north Londoners could get Osimhen if they wait until the end of the season.

Osimhen has registered 62 goals and 15 assists across 107 games for the Italian side, helping them lift the Serie A title last term. But his future at Napoli appears to be up in the air amid a nasty fall-out and Osimhen could be set to leave amid reported interest from Premier League clubs.

“What Osimhen would cost, it would be ground-breaking,” Campbell told Sky Sports. “But it’s just like anything, isn’t it? If you want to be that side and you want that style of play, that type of player, you’ve got to pay the money. Obviously with Champions League money now coming in, Arsenal might be in with a shout of signing Osimhen next summer.”

Campbell is not ruling out a move for Toney, though, and has identified him as another option if the Gunners feel they cannot wait until the end of the season. “(Brentford manager) Thomas Frank might have somebody who can help Arsenal this season,” he added. “Arsenal might look to do a deal in January.”

Victor Osimhen has been one of Napoli’s most important players since joining the club in 2020. He has scored 62 goals and provided 15 assists in 107 appearances for the Serie A giants, helping them win the league title last season. The Nigerian international has also been linked with a move away from the club due to a nasty fall-out at the club.

Arsenal have been strongly linked with Brentford striker Ivan Toney but Campbell believes they should wait until the end of the season and make a move for Osimhen instead. He believes that Arsenal have the financial muscle to make such a move and that Champions League money could help them secure the Nigerian international’s signature.

Campbell is not ruling out a move for Toney either though and believes that he could help Arsenal this season if they decide to make a move in January.

Whichever way Arsenal decide to go, it is clear that they need to add some firepower to their attack if they are to challenge for major honours this season. Campbell’s advice should be taken seriously as he knows what it takes to be successful at Arsenal having played for them for nine years and won two league titles during his time there.

Victor Osimhen has proven himself to be one of the best strikers in Europe over the past few seasons and would be a great addition to Arsenal’s squad. He has all the attributes needed to be successful in the Premier League and could be the missing piece in Arsenal’s puzzle.

Only time will tell if Arsenal decide to make a move for Osimhen or if they opt for Ivan Toney instead. Either way, it is clear that they need to add some quality to their attack if they are to challenge for major honours this season.
