Arsenal Eyeing Brazilian Wonderkid with £51m Release Clause
Arsenal is keeping a close eye on Atletico Mineiro’s 18-year-old attacking midfielder, Alisson Santana, with a potential summer move in mind. The young talent has caught the attention of scouts working under Mikel Arteta, despite only making 10 first-team appearances for his current club. Santana’s impressive performances in the youth ranks have piqued the interest of several top European clubs, including Arsenal, Fulham, and Newcastle United.
In addition to English clubs, German side Bayer Leverkusen and Dutch club PSV are also reportedly interested in Santana. Recent reports suggest that two Spanish teams and one English team watched Santana in action over the weekend as he contributed to a 3-0 win over Ipatinga in Belo Horizonte. The English club in question is believed to be Arsenal, especially since their new Brazilian scout, Paulo Xavier, resides in Belo Horizonte.
According to Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte, Santana is under contract until 2027, with a hefty €60m (£51m) release clause. Arsenal is reportedly eager to strengthen their midfield during the upcoming summer transfer window. They are also on the lookout for an out-and-out winger and a striker to enhance their squad.
The Gunners have been linked to Wolves winger Pedro Neto but are hesitant to meet his £80m price tag. They are exploring various options for a striker, including Ivan Toney, Victor Osimhen, Viktor Gyokeres, and Joshua Zirkzee. As Arsenal continues to plan for the future, the pursuit of young talents like Alisson Santana demonstrates their commitment to building a competitive team for the seasons ahead.
