Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal Revamp: Thomas Partey Permitted to Explore Transfer to Saudi Arabia

Arsenal are set for a major revamp this summer as manager Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his midfield. Reports suggest that the Gunners have given midfielder Thomas Partey permission to explore a transfer to a club in Saudi Arabia.

The Ghana international has been linked with two clubs in Italy, but it appears that he could be heading to the Middle East instead. Partey joined Arsenal in a £45m deal from Atletico Madrid in 2020 and had a major part in the club’s Premier League title challenge last season.

However, Arsenal are said to be have been disappointed with his performance levels towards the end of the season as the club surrendered a healthy lead at the top to Manchester City. Former Arsenal defender William Gallas has warned Partey that his future is in doubt due to the club’s desire to bring in Declan Rice from West Ham.

Declan Rice: Arsenal’s Top Target

Declan Rice is Arsenal’s top target this summer as they look to revamp their midfield. The England international has been linked with a move away from West Ham for some time and the Gunners are said to be leading the race for his signature.

Rice has been one of the standout performers in the Premier League over the past few seasons and would be a major coup for Arsenal if they can secure his services. The 21-year-old has made over 150 appearances for West Ham since making his debut in 2017 and has established himself as one of the most sought-after midfielders in Europe.

Granit Xhaka Set to Leave Arsenal

Granit Xhaka is also set to leave Arsenal this summer after falling out of favour under Arteta. The Swiss international has been linked with a move away from the Emirates for some time and it appears that his time at the club is coming to an end.

Xhaka has been at Arsenal since 2016 and has made over 200 appearances for the club in all competitions. He has been a key player for the Gunners over the past few seasons but has struggled for form this season and is now set to move on.

Conclusion

Mikel Arteta is looking to revamp his midfield this summer and it appears that Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka are set to be the first casualties of his overhaul. Partey has been given permission to explore a transfer to a club in Saudi Arabia while Xhaka is expected to leave the Emirates in the coming weeks. Declan Rice is Arsenal’s top target this summer and if they can secure his signature, it could prove to be a major coup for the club.
