Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea on red alert as transfer target Moises Caicedo changes agent, but insists ‘I am focussed on Brighton’

Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo has switched agents just one week before the end of the January transfer window.

As a result, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool are likely to have all eyes on the Seagulls ace, with them all keen to find a way to sign him before deadline day – but Caicedo insists he’s focussed on his current club.

At the start of the month, football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported that Caicedo was looking to prepare for his future move and swap agents.

Then on Monday, Romano confirmed the Ecuadorian star has picked agents Futbol Division, noting that the midfielder is a target for Arsenal and Liverpool, as well as Chelsea.

However the trio of interested parties are set to have their work cut out to persuade Brighton to sell their midfielder – who plays alongside World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister -who has helped guide them up to sixth in the Premier League.

talkSPORT brought you the news that it would take a huge offer in the region of £80million to tempt the Seagulls into selling their star, who’s contracted at the club until 2015.

As a result Brighton reportedly rejected Chelsea’s £55million bid – denying Caicedo the chance to reunite with the ex-Seagulls boss Graham Potter who gave him his debut.

And they do not plan on selling him this month, either. However it’s understood the interested clubs are still going to try to sign him.

But despite all the speculation circulating in the media, Caicedo has stated he’s fully focused on being part of Robert De Zerbi’s project on the south coast.

“I am focussed on Brighton,” he told Brighton’s website.

“I am here, I’m playing every day. Things from outside don’t trouble me, nor does it take that focus away because I’m focussed only on here.

“I handle [the speculation] well. You hear rumours here and there, but I only try to be focused on the club where I am now, the club which opened the doors for me to be playing every week.”

Caicedo has played 31 games for Brighton since he signed for Independiente del Valle in February 2021, with 21 of those games coming after his loan to Belgium top flight side Beerschot.

In his time at the AMEX, the midfielder has also scored two goals and recorded three assists.

It’s understandable, then, that Caicedo is on Arsenal and Liverpool’s radar as well as Chelsea’s, with them both also keen to bolster their options in midfield.

However with just one week left of the transfer window, the Premier League sides will need to act fast, or wait until the summer.
