Tottenham fans got to see Arnaut Danjuma score on his debut, despite the new signing not even being ready.
Bagging the third goal in a 3-0 FA Cup win over Preston, the Dutchman said hello to his new supporters in the best way after two earlier efforts from Heung-min Son.
Tucking in expertly from a Dejan Kulusevski pull back, the recently signed loanee got off to a perfect start, just three days after spurning Everton to sign up in north London.
A Netherlands international, Danjuma was available on loan from Villarreal, a possibility Everton were thrilled by, only for the 25-year-old to make a transfer u-turn.
Now he will be helping Antonio Conte’s Champions League charge, and early signs are impressive.
Even more so, giving pre-match comments by Spurs assistant boss Cristian Stellini.
The Italian explained: “The only player we realise that maybe he’s not ready like the others is Arnaut because he’s a new player.
“We are happy, but we need to give him time to understand everything.”
But the winger, who featured in last season’s Champions League semi-finals, looked more than ready, despite only playing one minute of football since January 3.
The added competition up front also seemed to work as a wake-up call for Son, whose double comes amid criticism of the Korean for failing to live up to last season’s high standards.
