Spurs were beaten 2-0 by Sporting on Tuesday night, turning in a pretty uninspiring performance as they continue to struggle to find their best rhythm.
Conte’s side sit third in the Premier League and have one win from two in the Champions League, so they are doing just fine, but performances have not been awe-inspiring and some players are struggling to produce their best form.
Most notably Heung-min Son who is yet to score in eight appearances so far this campaign, with his place now under threat from the likes of Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski.
Son has been an integral part of Tottenham’s team for year, but Conte has reminded him and all his players, that no one has a guaranteed place in his side, nor should anyone in a successful team.
‘There are not players [who are] undroppable. This has to be very clear,’ said Conte.
‘There is no player who is undroppable. If I tell this, it’s only to try to help my players and to try to avoid injuries. To try to have players at the top of their form and to have a good performance.
‘I’m telling this only to protect my players and to give them the possibility to be the top at every moment.
‘You know very well, you can play one game well, another so and so, another score, another not.
‘My task is to try to protect my players, protect the team and also to find the right way to have a good result.’
Spurs return to action on Saturday evening against Leicester City in the Premier League before the international break.
Their first match back after the break sees them travel across north London to take on Arsenal which will be a huge match in both teams’ seasons and one that no Spurs star will want to miss.
