Angel Di Maria again targeted by armed burglars while with family and Juventus teammate Dusan Vlahovic in Turin mansion, after falling victim to break-ins at Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain

Police in Italy have launched an investigation after armed burglars attempted to break into Angel Di Maria’s mansion on Thursday.

The Argentine was targeted by thieves during his spells with Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain and has again become the subject of criminal activity.

The 34-year-old winger was said to have been relaxing with his family at the time of the incident, with Juve teammate and neighbour Dusan Vlahovic also reportedly at his house.

One of the three suspects was arrested after an alarm was sounded and police promptly attended the scene after being contacted by a private security firm.

The other two suspects remain at large and police are continuing their search to locate them.

According to Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, the attempted break-in occurred at around 7.30pm at his mansion in the same area of Turin where Cristiano Ronaldo and his family lived while he played for Juventus.

Unconfirmed reports said neighbours had heard shots and a gun had been found near the scene. The shots were believed to have been fired in the air by officers as they tried to apprehend the culprits.

Di Maria was instrumental in Juventus’ 3-1 Champions League win over Maccabi Haifa on Wednesday, where he produced an assist for each of the Old Lady’s goals.

The result handed Juventus their first Champions League win of the season in a group that contains Benfica and former club PSG.

A break-in at his £4.1million Prestbury mansion in 2015 resulted in him putting it up for sale during his only season at Old Trafford.

Trespassers tried to force their way into the house as he was having dinner with his wife Jorgelina and daughters Mia and Pia.

The terrifying incident led to him leaving the club the following summer and securing a move to the French champions.

But Di Maria was once again subject targeted when his home was burgled with his family inside whilst he was playing for PSG against Nantes in March 2021.

He was subsequently substituted by Mauricio Pochettino so that he could race home to be with his family, who were said to have been ‘held hostage’ by the intruders who escaped with £400,000 worth of jewellery.

Three men and a minor were later arrested over the raid.
