Anfield, the iconic home stadium of Liverpool Football Club, is currently undergoing preparations for the upcoming season. After hosting concerts by Taylor Swift and Pink, the pitch is being relaid to ensure a pristine playing surface for the team.
The past year has been eventful for Anfield, with the expansion work on the new Anfield Road Stand and the departure of Jurgen Klopp as the manager after the 2023/24 campaign. Despite these changes, Anfield remains a revered venue in the football world.
During the previous season, Liverpool played a total of 29 games at home, across various competitions. The pitch endured additional strain due to the recent concerts that took place over five nights. However, the necessary precautions were taken by covering the pitch to protect it during the events.
Now that the concerts are over, Anfield is ready to have its pitch relaid. Pictures posted by @KoptasticNeil on social media show the old pitch being prepared for the relaying process. The work is scheduled to commence on Monday, ensuring that everything is in order for a friendly match and the start of the 2024/25 season.
When it comes to installing a new pitch, Liverpool has been working with Hatko Hybridgrass for the past two seasons. This innovative system combines 95 percent natural grass with five percent artificial fibers. The result is a hybrid grass that offers the best of both worlds – the benefits of natural grass combined with the strength and durability of synthetic grass.
The use of hybridgrass ensures that Anfield has a world-class playing surface throughout the year. It provides increased durability, making it capable of withstanding the demands of football and maintaining its quality even after extensive use.
Liverpool fans can look forward to seeing their team back in action at Anfield on Sunday, August 11, when they face Sevilla in their final pre-season match. This will be followed by their Premier League opener against Ipswich six days later. The pitch dimensions for the upcoming season will remain the same, measuring 101 by 68 meters.
As the countdown begins for Liverpool’s return to Anfield under new manager Arne Slot, excitement is building among supporters. The relaying of the pitch is just one of the many preparations being made to ensure that Anfield continues to be a fortress for the team and a cherished venue for football lovers around the world.
