Andre Onana Set to Join Manchester United on Pre-Season Tour
Today, Manchester United’s new signing Andre Onana will fly out to the United States to join the club’s pre-season tour after putting pen to paper on a five-year deal at the club. The 27-year-old completed his medical at Carrington on Wednesday and signed his side of the paperwork.
Onana has penned a five-year deal at Old Trafford and the deal includes the option of a further 12 months. Though the paperwork between United and Inter still needs to be finalised, Onana is effectively a United player. A hold-up in negotiations means Onana arrived too late to join United’s squad on their flight to New York on Wednesday.
But the Cameroonian will jet out today to link-up with his new team-mates ahead of their clash against Arsenal on Saturday. Onana’s £45m arrival takes United’s spending to the £100m mark this summer after the £55m acquisition of Mason Mount from Chelsea.
Erik ten Hag wants to sign a striker, with Atalanta ace Rasmus Hojlund at the top of his wanted list. However, the Italians are seeking an excessive £86m for the Dane.
United’s pre-season tour consists of eight matches, two of which they have already played. The Red Devils beat Lyon in Edinburgh on Wednesday thanks to a goal from Donny van de Beek, having beaten Leeds in Oslo last week.
