Former Rangers and Scotland player, Ally McCoist, has given his endorsement to Arsenal’s pursuit of Manchester City midfielder, Ilkay Gundogan. McCoist believes that signing Gundogan on a free transfer would be a bigger statement than the arrival of Gabriel Jesus at the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal has expressed interest in signing Gundogan, who is out of contract at the end of the season. Manchester City is keen to keep him for at least another season, but the 32-year-old is yet to commit as he could receive a considerable signing-on fee if he joined a new club on a free. Gundogan has won five Premier League titles since joining Manchester City in 2016 and scored four goals in his last four appearances to help Guardiola’s side reach the Champions League final.
