The father and agent of Argentina star Alexis Mac Allister says it’s ‘most likely’ that the midfielder will leave Brighton this summer.

The midfielder signed a new deal with the Seagulls shortly before winning the World Cup with his country in Qatar.

His performances in Qatar only cemented his position as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League and he’s continued his fine displays since returning to England.

The 24-year-old joined Brighton from Boca Juniors in 2019 and he’s enjoying his best season to date on the south coast, scoring ten times in 29 appearances.

Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool have all been linked with a move for Mac Allister, who would ideally like to remain in England if he was to leave Brighton.

And Mac Allister’s father, who also acts as his agent, has admitted his son is likely to join another club this summer.

‘Normally the next transfer window will find him playing for another institution’, Carlos Mac Allister told Bolavip.

‘We don’t know which one, we are just starting talks in general, but it is most likely that Alexis will be playing for another team next July.’

Having started his career at Boca before moving to Europe, Mac Allister’s father admits his son would like to return to the club at ‘some point’.

‘Surely Alexis will return to play in Boca at some point,” he said.

‘Today he is just beginning his career in Europe, but on the way back and when he decides to settle in Argentina again, he will surely want to play in Boca – even if it is for a while – to finish thanking and demonstrating the level that it can have in a club of this nature in Argentina.’
