Alejandro Garnacho Talks with Man Utd, Ex-Liverpool Star

Date:

Alejandro Garnacho, Manchester United forward, has been out of action since mid-March due to an ankle injury. However, he is expected to return before the end of the season, which is good news for Erik ten Hag as United look to secure a place in the Premier League top four. The 18-year-old has also been named in Argentina’s preliminary squad for the U20 World Cup which kicks-off on the 20th May, meaning he would miss the Red Devils’ last two league games of the season as well as the FA Cup final should they get there. However, United have blocked his call-up, something the Argentinean FA haven’t taken too kindly too. As a result, Liverpool and Barcelona icon Javier Mascherano, who is now Argentina U20 head coach, will fly to England on Monday to meet with United officials in an effort to secure Garnacho’s early release. It is also said that he will be meeting with other clubs during his visit for similar reasons, with Manchester City’s Maximo Perrone and Brighton’s Facundo Buonanotte also getting called-up. In this, his debut season for United, Garnacho has four goals and five assists in 29 games across all competitions. United will take on Brighton for a place in the FA Cup final at Wembley on Sunday.
