Former footballer Alan Shearer has reiterated his criticism of Antony and Alejandro Garnacho following Manchester United’s recent loss to West Ham. United’s lack of goals has become a major concern, with the team currently sitting in eighth place in the league table. Shearer believes that the team needs to improve their attacking play and create more chances.

Struggles in Front of Goal

Manchester United has been struggling to find the back of the net this season, with only Sheffield United scoring fewer goals. Rasmus Hojlund, a summer signing for £72 million, has yet to score in the Premier League. However, he has managed to find the net five times in the Champions League. Many have blamed the lack of service that Hojlund has received from his teammates, including Antony and Garnacho.

Shearer’s Criticism

Alan Shearer has joined the chorus of critics, describing United’s goal-scoring record as “really embarrassing.” He believes that the team needs to improve their passing and decision-making in the final third. Shearer highlighted the low number of passes between Antony and Hojlund, emphasizing the need for better teamwork and understanding among the players.

Comparison with West Ham

Micah Richards, another pundit, compared the goal-scoring records of United’s front three with that of West Ham’s attacking trio. The West Ham players have scored 19 goals and provided seven assists between them, while United’s forwards have managed just one goal and one assist combined. This further highlights the need for improvement in United’s attacking play.

In conclusion, Manchester United’s lack of goals has become a major concern for the team. Critics like Alan Shearer believe that the players need to improve their attacking play and create more chances. With the team currently sitting in eighth place in the league table, it is crucial for them to address this issue in order to climb up the rankings.
