Alan Shearer Criticizes Arsenal Duo Over Controversial West Ham Goal
Arsenal’s frustration grew as VAR allowed Tomas Soucek’s goal to stand despite the ball appearing to go out of play in the build-up. Alan Shearer has now pointed fingers at Arsenal duo Declan Rice and Gabriel Magalhaes for their role in the contentious goal.
During his half-time analysis on Amazon Prime, Shearer expressed disappointment with Rice and Gabriel’s defensive efforts. He specifically highlighted their failure to stop Jarrod Bowen, who provided the assist for Soucek’s goal.
Shearer emphasized that Rice did not know where Bowen was, while Gabriel knew but failed to mark him effectively. Instead of marking the man, Gabriel opted to defend the space, allowing Bowen to cause damage and keep the ball alive for Soucek to score.
Shearer concluded that Arsenal’s defending was poor and that there were plenty of issues to address, regardless of whether the ball went out of play or not.
Meanwhile, Gary Neville couldn’t resist trolling Arsenal fans following Soucek’s controversial goal in north London.
