Sadio Mane Joins Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr in £35m Deal
Sadio Mane has completed his move to Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr from Bayern Munich in a deal worth £35m. The former Liverpool star will link up with new team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo in the Middle East, the same price the Premier League side sold him for in 2022.
The move marks the latest big-name player to head to the Middle East, with Al-Nassr bringing in Marcelo Brozovic from Inter Milan and Manchester United left-back Alex Telles as well as Lens’ Seko Fofana in a €25m deal.
Mane’s Struggles at Bayern
Mane only joined Bayern a year ago but struggled to make an impact in his first season in the Bundesliga following his arrival from Liverpool. His future was thrown in further doubt towards the end of last season after he was suspended by Bayern for punching his team-mate Leroy Sane.
Mane had been linked with a potential return to the Premier League but has instead become the latest big-name player to head to the Middle East.
Mane’s Reaction
Mane has admitted in an interview with Sky Sports Germany that he has been left ‘hurt’ following his exit from Bayern. ‘Leaving FC Bayern hurts me,’ he said. ‘I would have wished for a different ending. I know that I could have helped the team this season. I wanted to prove it to everyone this season. Nevertheless, I only wish the club and the fans the best for the future.’
Bayern head coach Thomas Tuchel, meanwhile, said that Mane ‘fell short of expectations’ following his stint at the club.
