N’Golo Kante Joins Al-Ittihad After Leaving Chelsea
N’Golo Kante has left Chelsea this summer as a free agent and has now signed with Saudi club Al-Ittihad. The experienced France international had been in negotiations over a deal to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge, but has decided to join the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema in the Saudi league.
Kante’s Premier League Career
Kante first came to the Premier League in 2015 when he joined Leicester City from French club Caen. He then helped the Foxes win the Premier League title at odds of 5000/1. This earned him a move to Chelsea a year later, where he won a second Premier League title as well as the FA Cup, Champions League, Europa League, Super Cup and Club World Cup.
Kante was crowned Premier League Player of the Season after just one campaign with Chelsea and in his second season was named the club’s Player of the Year. He was also named Champions League Midfielder of the Season for 2020-21 as the Blues became European champions under previous boss Thomas Tuchel.
Al-Ittihad Confirm Kante Signing
The 32-year-old was linked to fellow Saudi side Al-Nassr in December, but has opted to join Al-Ittihad, who confirmed his arrival via their official Twitter page.
Conclusion
Kante’s move to Al-Ittihad marks the end of his successful six-year spell in the Premier League. He leaves Chelsea having won two Premier League titles, the FA Cup, Champions League, Europa League, Super Cup and Club World Cup. He also won numerous individual awards during his time in England and will now be looking to continue his success in Saudi Arabia.
