Jack Grealish has been winning over fans with his playful attempt at playing agent to lure Jude Bellingham to Manchester City. The future of the 19-year-old midfielder at Borussia Dortmund is uncertain beyond the end of the season, with a host of suitors waiting to pounce. Liverpool are believed to be leading the chase for Bellingham, but Grealish is not willing to leave anything to chance and did his bit to convince Bellingham to move to the Etihad Stadium.
Grealish’s Manchester City teammate Manuel Akanji posted a photo of himself on Instagram alongside the caption: “was on my grind and now I got what I deserve.” Bellingham, who played with Akanji at Dortmund, tagged teammate Giovanni Reyna into his reply, which read: “@gioareyna he’s changed.” Grealish then decided to take it upon himself to open up transfer discussions by abruptly writing: “Come to City xx.”
Unsurprisingly, Bellingham did not offer a public reply to his fellow England international’s comment, but fans were loving Grealish’s efforts, which attracted more than 10,000 ‘likes’. It led to some fans labelling him ‘agent Jack’ in the comment section.
Former Birmingham City star Bellingham is viewed as a generational talent, and efforts will be stepped up this summer to land him. City may need to look for a replacement for Ikay Gundogan, who will become a free agent in the summer. Jurgen Klopp is bracing himself for a shake-up at Liverpool with three midfielders out of contract at the end of the season.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid continue to construct a youthful midfield for the future and want Bellingham to join Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni and Fede Valverde at the Bernabeu. For now, Bellingham’s focus is on ending the season on a high note with Dortmund, who are two points behind leaders Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga title race.
Bellingham and Grealish are close pals from their time together with England. The two have been seen hanging out together and even playing video games together. The bromance between the two has been well documented on social media, with both players sharing pictures of each other on their respective accounts.
Grealish has been in fine form for Manchester City this season, scoring six goals and providing 10 assists in all competitions. He has been instrumental in City’s push for the Premier League title and their run to the quarter-finals of the Champions League. The 25-year-old has formed a formidable partnership with Kevin De Bruyne in midfield and has been one of City’s standout performers this season.
Bellingham, on the other hand, has been a revelation since joining Dortmund from Birmingham City last summer. The teenager has already made over 40 appearances for the German side and has scored four goals in all competitions. He has been praised for his maturity and composure on the ball, and many believe he has the potential to become one of the best midfielders in the world.
It remains to be seen where Bellingham will end up next season, but one thing is for sure – he will have plenty of suitors vying for his signature. Liverpool, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester City are just some of the clubs interested in signing him, and it will be interesting to see where he ends up. For now, though, Bellingham will be focused on helping Dortmund win the Bundesliga title and end the season on a high note.
